The Reefers season began again at Portsmouth and Southampton in November and the first visit of the 7,367gt/2000 built regular Nagato Reefer to Southampton was on 10th November. She uses the western Solent and, whilst en-route back to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands, ran aground on a shingle bank northwest of The Needles at 0150.

She remained there until around 0800 with Solent Towage’s 839gt/2010 built tug Vortex being summoned to stand by. The 135m long Nagato Reefer, with 20 crew members aboard, freed herself and, after trials off the southwest coast of the Isle of Wight with the Vortex in attendance, diverted to Portland in Dorset for an underwater inspection.
