The financial package for the proposed new Brittany Ferries ship, commissioned in January 2014 at the Saint-Nazaire shipyard, could not be completed within the timescale this summer. STX France extended the deadline but in the end were forced to suspend the project for the LNG ship.

Negotiations are set to continue but the ship has now missed her building slot to guarantee a 2016 delivery date. The 210 metre long, 31 metre wide and 53,000gt ship is designed to carry 2,474 passengers plus 3,640 lanemetres for freight/650 cars. The delay until perhaps 2017/2018 should mean a reprieve for the ever popular 24,534gt/1989 built Bretagne.
