The 15,229gt/1984 built former SNCF, Stena Line and Seafrance ship Daniya (above) was to have moved to the Ceuta-Algeciras service from 20th November under the new guise Poet López Anglada to replace the 6,146gt/2009 built Passio per Formentera.

The former Daniya joined Balearia from her career with Stena Line (Irish Sea) in 2012 and is now named after the soldier and writer Luis López Anglada (1919-2007), born in Ceuta, though his childhood was spent in Zamora and Valladolid, where he began his literary career under the tutelage of the poet Narciso Alonso Cortés.

Balearia’s fleet reshuffle became the target of a protest by the Government of Ceuta and the Ceutí’s so, eight days after the plans were unveiled, the renamed Poet López Anglada was subsequently switched to the Alcudia- Ciutadella service.
