Ocean Ships

Publisher: Ian Allan ISBN: 978-0-7110-3848-6

by Allan Rysza-Onions

First published over 50 years ago, Ocean Ships has become the bible for maritime enthusiasts, providing authoritative and detailed information on all the world’s ocean-going passenger and cargo ships.

The new edition is fully revised, with entries organised by shipping company with a listing of each ship owned by the company. Details provided include information about company colours, national flag, year built, tonnage, dimensions, speed, engines, number of passengers, type and former names and, for the first time, the IMO number of each vessel. In addition, it states the TEU of all container ships.

The book is beautifully supplemented with a brand new photographic section of around 200 excellent photographs.

This is the 17th edition of this book and it is bigger and better than ever. One useful new feature is the inclusion of an index of ships by IMO number. Also included are details of each company’s ships on order together with the details of the builders.

Any ship lover will be familiar with these books and they are an essential part of any enthusiasts library. There are a few inevitable errors but, as always, I would very highly recommend this book to our readers.
